WITCHDOCTOR COMES TO CHRIST AND BARREN WOMAN RECEIVES MIRACLE

Native Missionary Wilson Meya wrote to us, “I must announce the miracle that God did through me, that of saving Mr. Daudi who was a witch doctor. (Mr. Daudi was able to have powers from Satan and even the power to hurt people physically. He was opposed to the Gospel because it hurt his occupation of selling medicine and curses.) Everyone in the village is now able to see through his life that Mr. Daudi is obeying God and no longer a witch doctor.”

Native Missionary Wilson Meya also wrote, “Another good miracle that God did through me is that of Aisha Salumu who has tried to have a baby for nine years without succession. She came to me for prayers and I prayed in Jesus’ name (for God to open up her womb). Now she has been pregnant of two months. That is the good miracle that Jesus did through me!”

2 MIRACLES, 1 VILLAGE = WOW!!

“I (Native Missionary Isaya Bilaly) was preaching in one village when I came across a lame man. His name is Sadiki. He came to me and asked me if I could pray for him. So I did and God healed him! He and six people from his family started to praise the Lord! Now all seven of them are believers. This miracle is still causing people to realize the presence and power of God.”

“I was preaching in another place when a man came up to me and asked me to pray for his daughter. She was suffering from demonic oppression for more than 10 years. So, I went and prayed for her. Her name is Agness Peho. The lord set her free! Now she and her father are committed followers of Jesus!”

SAD NEWS...SONS OF MISSIONARY BEATEN FOR THEIR FAITH

"The two sons of Native Missionary Jacob Mnunguli of Zanzibar were beaten by radical Muslims last week. On a typical day, Pastor Mnunguli will do house to house evangelism with his two sons (they are between 9 and 11 years of age). This must have infuriated the Muslims because last week, they waited until the two boys were away from their father and beat them badly. Pastor Mnunguli is very saddened by the event, but continues to hold strong in the village, still winning souls to Christ and discipling young believers. The two boys are ok and sustained only minor injuries. They, along with their entire family have counted the cost."

MUSLIM MAN COMES TO CHRIST, CHANGES HIS NAME

“I, pastor Mathias Shilinde, thank God for doing a miracle of saving Moslems. I met with a Muslim man and told him about Jesus and he decided to give his life to Jesus as the Lord and Savior of his life. The name of this person is called Mashaka Hamisi. This man is coming from a place called Mwera, which is a good Muslim place in Zanzibar (very serious Muslims live here). However, he no longer calls himself Mashaka Hamisi. He has given himself a new Christian name, Eliya Masha. He has chosen to change his name from a Muslim name to a Christian name (because now he is a new creation in Christ…a new person).”

WIZARDS USE CHICKEN POOP TO CURSE MISSIONARY

Missionary Lazarus Vincent Mahundi has been working at Dondo village for over a year. He has seen strange things happen: blind eyes opened, the lame walk, and Muslims believe in Jesus. The strangest thing happened to him recently.

The people of the village came together, angry that Lazarus was still preaching. They wanted to stop him. The witchdoctor told them to gather poop from chickens, as well as a few other things. Once they were gathered, the curse was made...but nothing happened that night…and nothing happened the next day…and Lazarus continued his work. More people began to believe…seeing that the witchdoctors no longer had the power.

A few weeks ago, Lazarus decided to do a baptism service on a Friday afternoon (Friday is the day Muslims go to pray at Mosque). As the baptisms were going on, loud shrieks and cries were heard in the distance. Hundreds of people, inside the Mosque, were yelling at the top of their voices in anger (which is forbidden in the Mosque) because they heard that many former Muslims were being baptized that day. The leader of the village reportedly said, “I cry because I am very sad to see the presence of Jesus in my Islamic village. Such a thing has never happened before in Dondo.”

Lazarus remains in Dondo to this day, boldly proclaiming Christ. This is a great testimony of what God can do if we fear HIM and not fear the circumstances we are in. Please pray for Lazarus and our other missionaries who face dangers each day.

THE LIFE OF AN AFRICAN MISSIONARY

Wake up is around 6am followed by Bible study, prayer and a warm cup of oatmeal. Ministry begins at 9. This day, we will walk the path that leads towards the hills north of the house. There are 3 small villages along this path, with around 80 people in each village.

It takes 2 hours to get to the first village, which is a collection of round mud huts. At this time of day there are only women, children, and the elderly. All of the men are off working in the fields. One family in this village is saved, so you go there to have a “front porch” Bible study. The ‘mama’ at the house has gathered 7 people from her village that are interested to know more about Jesus. After Bible study, no one receives Christ, but they tell you they will come back in 2 days to hear more. This takes you about an hour.

You then leave for the second village, which will take 1 hour to reach. Here you have had the most success. The village leader received Christ, so most of the people are now believers (47 people!). You are greeted by children running towards you with big smiles on their faces, and their parents following close behind, and a chair in hand (the best one in the village) for you to sit. They say to you, “Oh, I am sure you are so tired. Please have a sit sir. We have missed you. We have many questions sir. Let us get started right away sir.” After singing and prayer, you teach them for 2 hours about the Fruits of the Spirit (Galatians 5), and challenge them to show love to their Muslim neighbors so that they too will receive Christ.

As you approach your last village you fear opposition. The first time (six months ago) you came to this village, you spoke about Jesus, and they chased you away with stones. They were Muslim and wanted no opposition. Since then, you have come once a week, not to talk about Christ, but to show love towards the villagers. Today, you feel that it’s a good time to share Christ with them again. As you sit down in your normal spot, people begin to happily welcome you. A child runs to you and gives you a cup of water as you small talk with the men and women. Finally, you tell them, “I think you remember the first time I visited you.” Shamed, the people put their heads down in guilt. “That day, I told you about the grace of Jesus and you chased me away with stones. Today, you can do the same. You have that choice. But because you have seen the love that I have for you, I will again share Jesus with you today.” Then, you pour out your heart to them, telling them the story of Christ. After you finish, you know that God has touched their hearts. But it is a new message to them. None of them are willing to receive Christ yet, but they ask you to come back next week to tell them more. You leave with confidence in your heart that you did the right thing and that God was faithful to protect you.

After a 3 hour walk, you are home by 8pm. God has spared you for another day. You are greeted by your wife and 2 children and a meal of beans and rice. After an hour of telling them about your day, you’re ready for some sleep. Tomorrow, you will go east to visit more villages.

This is a typical day for most of our missionaries. Please pray for them, knowing that although they are in danger, they also have the best job in the world.
